FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

World Arts and Cultures, UCLA (2001).

FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!

Southeast Asian contemporary dance choreographers bring the result of a prestigious collaboration project to stage in Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia. The piece takes three approaches to one story, adapted from the Ramayana epic

For the 3rd and last time, the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the Khmer Arts Theater in Phnom Penh, Pichet Klunchun Dance Company in Bangkok and the Solo Dance Studio have come together to engage on an intercultural exchange on contemporary dance.

This year the three of Southeast Asia’s most notable choreographers, Sophiline Cheam Shapiro (Cambodia), Pichet Klunchun (Thailand) and Eko Supriyanto (Indonesia) present their final choreographies to the public, each based on the same episode from the Ramayana epic. Like in the recent years, the performances will compare and contrast how the three choreographers take different approaches when interpreting the same subject.

The Goethe-Institut is happy to announce that the pieces will go on tour and will be presented inPhnom Penh, Bangkok, Jakarta and Solo.

The program is part of the Goethe-Institut’s tanzconnexions-initiative, an ongoing effort to fuel exchange and co-productions in the field of contemporary dance in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
