GARUDA INDONESIA AND AMSTERDAM IN OUR DREAMS

Amsterdam

Cruising down the canals in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a city that brags an exotic nuance and unique urban development. Two of its characteristical features are the dams and the circulations organized in such a way through the canal establishment. The urban planning also develops around the four main canals, i.e. Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht and Singel.

It is no wonder that Amsterdam is also popularly called “The Venice of the North”. Cruising down the canals connecting the city corners is considered a popular choice of tourism attraction. You can start with Central Station Area. You can find a lot of operators offering canal tour packages.
For one hour, they will get you on a boat through the canals where you can enjoy the beauty of the old buildings that can be dated back to centuries ago. These buildings still serve as museums, offices and even houses. You can also see some people relaxing by the canals or paddling their smaller boats.
Zaanse Schans Windmill

In the midst of numerous decorative old buildings, windmills are the most visible landmark when it comes to Dutch architecture. The best place to witness how this cultural heritage is used traditionally is the Zaanse Schans tourism area. Here you will also get to see and experience for yourself Dutch people’s old way of living circa 17th century.
Zaanse Schanse can be reached within 30 minute by car, bus or train from Schipol Airport, Amsterdam. If you take the train, the first tourism attraction you can visit is the Windmill Museum. It is also close to Koog aan de Zaan Station, Zaandijk City.
Next, while taketing a walk along by the Zaan River, you will find windmills which come with different sizes and shapes with different functions. The functions range from agriculture to industrial. Please note that in winter time, the windmills are closed to public except for the weekends.

Tulip Carpet of Keukenhof
Apart from the architectural wonders, tulip sightseeing tour is something people will never miss when they come to the Netherlands. And your visit is not complete without visiting Keukenhof. This garden lies in the City of Lisse located to the southwest of Amsterdam which can be reached by bus in 30 minutes.
Covering an area of 80 ha, Keukenhof is the biggest flower garden in Europe. However, even when it is dubbed the Garden of Europe, it is only open to public in the spring. The best time to visit is between the first and second week of April. Within this period, there are approximately 7 million tulips perfectly blooming. The flowers are artistically categorized and organized based on the colors.
You can feast your eyes upon the magnificent view resembling a spacious carpet while taking a walk through the 15-km pathways. In order to do that, make sure that you come at the right time and that your camera is ready to capture the moment.
